
Children of Light. I think this is one of my favorite photos from the trip. I don't know these girls, for they just came into the shot... into focus. What you don't see is on the right hand side, a monolithic haystack rock. Here's the original version of the photograph. The one with just the two girls is more personal and intimate, but portrays more like a regular snapshot. I think having the rock in the photo places so much more emphasis on being traditional landscape photography.
I prefer having the children in this photograph.

I like them both. The original emphasizes the children too, but in a different way: by contrasting their humanity dramatically against the hulking stone.
In the second, they're played against the horizon; a sense of forward movement, of mission, is suggested.
